ASSB
is a public institution, which coordinates and manages the social
services offered in Bolzano's territory. The ASSB’ services are
addressed to youngsters, families, elderlies, disabled people, people
with psychic problems and people in state of need. In order to
guarantee the aims mentioned, ASSB is divided in districts. In the
whole territory there are about 5 social-health districts.
In
ASSB, the volunteers collaborate with the activities of the 4 nursing
homes for elders in the city of Bolzano: Villa Armonia, Villa Europa,
“Casa di riposo Don Bosco”, Villa Serena . If volunteers have
interest and availability, they can also perform their service in
Clinica S. Maria. The services in the nursing homes and centers for
elders are performed by the staff of ASSB as well as by external
collaborators. The services offered are for example: hosting services
(food, lodging, room cleaning and clothes washing); nursing services;
care and hygiene; health assistance; speech pathology assistance;
Physiotherapy, and entertaining activities.
The
number of elderly people assisted by the ASSB is huge. Villa Armonia
hosts 81 fixed guest and 3 temporary; Villa Serena instead has 70
fixed and 6 temporary; there are 164 fixed guests in Don Bosco and 6
temporary; 89 fixed in Villa Europa. The residential structure
Grieserhof was closed in November 2011 and residents had been
transferred in other structures such as Clinica S. Maria with 27
fixed guests.

Caritas
is actively involved in raising awareness among citizens about
several social issues and creates networks of solidarity to promote
the insertion of social disadvantaged persons into the society. It
has 270 employees to manage the several services.
Here
some examples:Office for voluntary work; YungCaritas; Services for
refugees; Services for disabled people; Services
for homeless people;
Services for migrants; Services for addicted persons; Services for
people with AIDS; Services for people with psychic issues; Services
for former prisoners and other services.

CENTRO

CTS
was funded in 1984 and was dedicated exclusively with the problem of
heroin addiction. During the following years, there was an evolution
of the problem to new kinds of addiction and a significant increase
of the phenomenon of alcoholism in local area. With those complex
patients, it was necessary to change and specialize the ways and
means of intervention. There was then established a therapeutic
project. By redefining the objectives of treating multi-problem
patients, there was established a residential project, named “Casa
Giano”. This house deals specifically with people who suffer from
both pathological addictions and co-existing phsicological problems.
The project is divided into three modules: First reception;
Supporting community and Re-integration to society. Casa Giano is
located in Vezzano (TN) - 20 minutes from Trento - and currently
accommodates 30 people.
Since
the year 2000, CTS also operates a hosting house for people with AIDS
(“Casa Lamar”). This structure provides assistance to guests
throughout the day, offering a friendly safe and organized
environment; a healthy food and comfortable accommodation besides the
opportunity for healing and growth in a human, cultural and spiritual
point of view. The therapeutic communities of CTS are accredited by
the Department of Health of the Autonomous Province of Trento. All
units are recognized in the Regional Authorities of prevention,
treatment and rehabilitation of people addicted to substances. The
association is also in convention with the Ministry of Justice being
furthermore a member of the Italian Federation of Therapeutic
Communities and the Italian Coordination of Hosting Accommodation.
Besides the therapeutic community, CTS manages a Counseling Center
and a Center for Research and Study.

ASSOCIAZIONE
LA STRADA DER WEG ONLUS
The
association was born thanks to the voluntary commitment of a group
built around don Giancarlo Bertagnolli; in 1978 they supported him in
his first activities dedicated to help people in deep difficulties.
At the beginning they especially took care of drugs addicted. They
chose the name “La Strada – Der Weg” because they did not have
a seat, but used to work in the streets among the underprivileged. At
the end of that year they opened the first community led by
volunteers, for people with very different histories, all living in
poor conditions.
In
40 years of activity the association has grown in terms of fields of
intervention, projects and number of professional operators employed.
Rapid changes in society ask the operators and the coordinators of
services a strong capability of catching new needs and adapt their
work with new solutions. Today La Strada - Der Weg counts on
employees and volunteers distributed in 5 areas:

VKE
Associazione campi gioco e ricreazione
VKE
is an association of volunteers, founded in Bolzano in 1974 by a
group of parents who wanted to dedicate themselves to promote
children's and youths' right to play and more generally to improve
children's life quality, as well as that of youths and their
families. VKE conduct its activities in South Tyrol in educational,
cultural and leisure activities. It is committed to improve the
quality of life, especially of children and youths, for instance by
creating and defending spaces to play as well as by implementing
educational interventions, as a lawyer for children, through the
efforts for environmentally friendly forms of mobility.
In
its educational activities, VKE seeks primarily to promote and
provide cultural subjects. The pedagogy of VKE aims to be non-violent
and non-repressive, this approach also applies to efforts at
social-political and institutional levels, for instance in favor of
the civil service or the peace movement. In its work, VKE tries to
put limits on competitive attitudes rather trying to encourage the
experience of solidarity and cooperation.
VKE
is a multilingual association which does not represent any political
party or religious group, it can work and collaborate with such
groups if they represent common goals. The activities of the VKE take
place mainly in two different sectors:
1)
Direct contact with the children and youths in the various activities
of the association: The employees coordinate, in collaboration with
the volunteers, the main activities of VKE: the mobile and fixed
playing services of social-cultural entertainment, organizing
projects and initiatives focusing on playing games.
2)
VKE as a lawyer of the right to play: VKE is involved in the
protection of children's right to play by creating new spaces and
organizing specific activities, reflected also the philosophy of the
VKE.
